A few photos

I have not had many photos to include.....the only way I know how to get the photos off my iPhone is too complicated and long winded and then there's laziness of getting them off my point and shoot camera.

I always felt bad to take photos in ICU of Dereck, mostly because I know that anyone else that was there visiting him may have objected and the possibility of him not surviving.  I discreetly took photos of him on my iPhone so that I could show him and it wasn't as obvious and he's glad that I did.  When he was up and awake with us, I took out my point and shoot.  So here are a few photos taken recently.

Dereck the day after extubation and the first day he was allowed to get out of bed.  Lucy and Richard were always there visiting him.  Richard shaved Dereck and made him feel clean and comfortable.  Yay Richard!  And then there's our youngest son, Tyler.  Dereck left ICU for a regular room the day after this was taken.

On Saturday after Dereck was moved to a regular room, a friend took this photo of us.  It was so good to see him smiling and to hear his voice.

Last night this photo was taken at our house, friends and family came by for a visit.  Dereck's mum, Dawn, Richard and Dereck.

Is that the first time he stood up in 2 weeks? After his escape from the falciparium? Great photo. What's with his glasses? Protective?

When I think about it my blood turns to ice, then I think of the outcome and start to smile.

yes, mum, this was the first time he stood up in 2 weeks. He has had problems with focusing, so he wore his glasses quite a lot. He wears them less and less as he heals.
