Day 10 afternoon

This was an amazing visit.  It was so good to see Dereck without the tube down his throat and the even removed the feeding tube.  Tomorrow other tubes come out of other places.....he didn't even know he had one "there".  The whole ICU floor is smiling and happy for him.  Dr. Hossain came in and was all smiles and we thanked him for saving Dereck's life.  It has been so emotional for all of us.  I can't even begin to tell you the joy I feel inside, the warmth that surrounds my body and now my muscles are all relaxed.  I have never been for the 8pm visit as it's only 30 minutes, but I'm NOT missing it tonight.
I told Dereck about ALL of you that have been praying for him, sending good vibes, healing engergy or just thinking about him.......I don't think he grasps quite how many of you there are that have shown such amazing support, compassion and love to our family.  I know I wouldn't have been able to do this without you.  I cannot write this without mentioning Adam who has been at my side from the first day.  He is on "vacation".  Yeah....some vacation and I'm so thankful to him as he was a really good distraction for Kane and Tyler.  So Adam.....if you are reading this, again....a huge thank you and I can't wait to see you again soon.
Delta family........we got the care package....LOL!!  You put a BIG smile on Dereck's face.  Just love how the 1st class tray and Styrofoam cups and bottle of water among other things made into the box.  That was great!  But what are those big blue things??  The only thing missing from that box were all the pilots and a few flight attendants.  Thank you for sending the box.  All the cards we have received, some too big to fit in the mail box.....you know who you are.....thank you!  OK, I have 5 minutes to eat and leave for the 8pm visit.
One more thing before I leave.......Reggie Sealy is doing GREAT!!  I think that Dereck should be able to text everyone soon.  I left his phone with him.
I just wish I could personally thank each and everyone of you who have called, emailed, texted (they need to enter that word in the dictionary), left FB messages, blog comments, read the blog...... amazing and again......so freaking GRATEFUL!!  Big kisses!!  Fat ass hugs!!

I'm so stupidly happy!

Till next time.......Om Mani Padme Hum

What more can I say - this has been quite a journey.

Dr Hossain is a miracle worker - he pulled out all the stops. Heather and his resp therapists and all the other faceless people in the hospital too.

Thanks DELTA. I shall fly with them whenever I can. If they look after their employees that well, they will look after me too.

Now he can work on getting ready to live outside the hospital.

Love to you all.

This excellent news! I am so happy for all of you! So... go check the post I wrote. Interesting comment from a friend in Tasmania who also had Malaria. He too sent good thoughts. Glad you got a Delta care package... and wish we could have all been in it. Hugs to Dereck. Stay strong. When he's home, let me know. I have something that might kill the parasites for good. XOXO Karlene
